JDC Competes in Triumph Regional Competition in July2020

During this time of Covid, dance competitions had come to a halt.  Besides all the state-wide illnesses, etc.(luckily none at the gym) classes had been cancelled.   In addition to all the other sadnesses, our dancers and gymnasts had their hopes for the 2020 season dashed.  After the Governor gave the word, our classes resumed.  To those of us who follow our Jacksonville Dance Company, we knew that this was our very best season ever, so we were especially disappointed.  However, under very different circumstances, the Triumph Regional Competition was held in Branson, Missouri.  The competition was arranged so that only one dance studio competed during a set time, so our performances were arranged so that the dancers had time to change costumes between numbers.  The performances were performed live but also to video so that the judges could rank the performances for the entire competition.  JDC dancers performed very well, especially after months of no classes.  Triumph had planned to hold their national competition but at the last minute, it had to be cancelled.  BUT, at least our dancers had the opportunity to perform this last time of the 2020 competition season.

The following is reported as the dancers performed - the results and JDC professional pictures (taken at times of recreational and tap performances at the Huff 'n Puff Studio) are the photos used to show who the dancers were.  Some of the performances had decided to not compete so they are not shown here.  They are shown in the recital pictures, however.

"Us" - Tap Duet by Chandler Dean and Myla McGhee for which they received a Platinum Award, Category Winner and Third Place Overall.

"Uneven Days" - Contemporary Solo by Tori Kiser for which she received a PLATINUM award, Fourth Place Overall and Explosive Entertainer Winner.

"Dive in the Pool" performed by the JDC Mini Jazz Group - for which they received a GOLD award, Judges Choice "Get Down", Category Winner and Second Place Overall.  Performers in this group were Aubrey Hague, Lianna Overholser, Lily Overholser and Kaylee Pelkey.

"H. O. P. E. " performed by Mae Armstrong in the Open Category for which she received a GOLD award, Category Winner and Fourth-Place Overall.

"Ready Set" HipHop solo performed by Jaimee Hall for which she received a GOLD award and Category Winner.

"Fight for Survival" performed by Tori Kiser as an Open Solo for which she received a PLATINUM award, Judges Choice "This Girl is On Fire" and Category Winner.

"Little Bitty Pretty One" - performance by Mini Tap Group for which they received a GOLD award and Category Winner.  Performers were Josie Epperson, Aubrey Hague, Lianna Overholser, Lily Overholser and Kaylee Pelkey.

"Lovely" - lyrical solo performed by Lauryn Hague for which she received a GOLD award, Category Winner and Second Overall.

Your dancer will have fabulous experiences in Jacksonville Dance Company (JDC) under the direction and tutelage of these two marvelous instructors - Ms. Lois and Mr. Rachel.

"Me Too" performed by Aubrey Hague in the Open Category, Category Winner and Third Place Overall.

"Leave a Light on" was performed by the Senior Contemporary group.  They received a PLATINUM award, Category Winner and Third Place Overall.  Performers were Mae Armstrong, Chandler Dean, Lindsay Hague, Tori Kiser and Myla McGhee.

The JDC Studio also earned another TOP STUDIO AWARD.  The few Novice Level Acts JDC had were the highest scoring at the whole competition and the studio was named TOP NOVICE STUDIO.    We cannot be more proud of the entire studio but especially these young NOVICE performers.  The future of JDC looks more promising than ever!!!!!

JDC Clinics for new competitive dancers will be held August 10 - 13 for ages Nine and Under and Ten and Up - the Auditions for the 2020-2021 season will be held August 14th.  Times will be posted on facebook.
