Ms. Lois is our Director of Dance and Director of the Jacksonville Dance Company (JDC). Ms. Lois is well qualified for this position as she trained in dance, gymnastics and cheerleading at Huff 'n Puff as she grew up through junior and senior high school, and has been part of the Huff 'n Puff family for over twenty years. Ms. Lois took dance for thirteen years, with the last eight of those years being at Huff 'n Puff. Her four years of gymnastics were taken at Huff 'n Puff and she was on Ms.Laurel's first competitive team, as well as the original competitive dance company. Ms. Lois cheered for five years and won TOP All-American Cheerleader in the 10th grade. She also cheered for the Universal Cheer Association in 2004, traveling to five or six nearby states to instruct cheerleading camps for junior high and high shool squads. Ms. Lois has taught dance, gymnastics and cheer at Huff 'n Puff over her twenty-one years with us, but her main focus has been dance. She really enjoys teaching dance and especially working with the Jacksonville Dance Company dancers. Ms. Lois was awarded a National Choreography award this summer at the Triumph National Competition for her choreography of the National Championship Title Winner, "Grease" a musical theater production which was also nationally recognized by the Talent on Parade National Competition, held this summer in Overland Park, Kansas. JDC has won nunerous choreography awards, as well as regional and national titles under Ms. Lois' direction. Ms. Lois also specializes in talent choreography for pageant contestants, all of whom who have won on state and national levels. She worked at Arkansas Children's Hospital in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit as a senior RN for the past eight years. Lois has assumed coaching responsibilities this year for the Jax Gym Level Four Team and is also teaching morning preschool gymnastics classes for Huff 'n Puff. She married Grant Overholser last fall and became full-time mom to two adorable daughters who are both members of Jax Gym and JDC. We are so happy that Ms. Lois is with the Dance Company and has been with the Huff 'n Puff family for so many years. Addition - Sep 2019 - Ms. Lois also once again became Coach Lois as she assumed responsibilities in the Huff 'n Puff recreational and Jax Gym Competitive gymnastics programs, in addition to her dance director responsibilities.
A native of Arkansas, Ms. Rachel is a professional dancer and instructor. She trained at TAPS--Theater Arts Preparatory School--directed by Don Mirault in Las Vegas, Nevada. TAPS is a performing arts school that teaches and trains new aspiring dancers all about the entertainment industry. At this school she was not only taught all styles of dance, but also marketing skills, audition techniques, commercial work, choreography, aerial silks, how to act and sing, and so much more.
In Las Vegas, Ms. Rachel joined a dance crew called Culture Shock. Culture Shock is a non-profit troupe that utilizes hip hop and the urban dance culture to cultivate education, enrichment and entertainment to inspire positive change in the communities.
A year later, Ms. Rachel signed with BLOC TalentAgency LA and moved to Los Angeles, California.
Rachel has trained under many dance industry professionals such as Bonnie Story, Don Bellamy, Helene Phillips, G. Madison, and many, many more. Some of her credits include backup dancing for Vanilla Ice, "Pusifers the Humbling River" a film directed by Bonnie Story. She also modeled for Bobby Brown cosmetics, and My Square Bear Clothing LIne, as well as Reshma Beauty, just to name a few.
Rachel started with us at Huff 'n Puff at the age of nine. Her first three years were spent in gymnastics. After her first recreational hip hop class, she quickly realized her love and passion for dance. Rachel was in JDC for seven years. After graduating from high school, she began instructing in the HnP dance program. After returning to Huff 'n Puff and JDC in 2018, she choreographed and taught several of the award-winning national performances in 2019, winning several choreography awards as well.
We were so pleased that Rachel returned from Los Angeles to give back to her students here at Huff 'n Puff. She has assumed responsibility for many of the recreational dance classes, in addition to her dances in JDC. She also is teaching the tap and tumbling classes and is also teaching Mini-Mite classes with Ms. Julia. We are so proud of both our recreational and JDC programs under the direction of Ms. Lois and Ms. Rachel. They are well loved by their students (as well as the parents.)
Rec Class Photos - 2019 Recital
Jaimee Hall started at Huff 'n Puff when she was three years old, taking preschool gymnastics. As she continued to grow, she began to compete for the Jax Gym team and dance competitively for the award-winning Jacksonville Dance Company. After Jaimee's Level Three season, she decided to focus more on dance and became very invested. Jaimee also did cheerleading in high school and was nominated for ALL-AMERICAN 2019 in her senior year; at that camp she was also given a leadership award. After graduating from high school, Jaimee became a scholar at the University of Arkansas Pulaski Technical College to earn a degree in Business Administration where she will begin the journey towards a Master's degree. In 2019, Jaimee decided to swtch roles from student to teacher and joined our staff! "I enjoyed dance so much and am so grateful for the lessons I've learned and the relationships I've built here. It is such a joy to watch the girls and boys who come after me fall in love with the dance and sport just like I did."
