The Saturday competition for JDC ended with the 2:00 awards. It was about that time that the snow started for the afternoon and many of us ended up in the hotels early for the evening, which was great, because for some of us, the Sunday morning competition started early with the comedic musical theater performance of “Moses Supposes” by Jessica Holeman and Kassie Shepard.

The performance, which won a Gold First and also placed Ninth in the Top Ten, (out of 22 performances for their age division) was choreographed and instructed by Ms. Sara.

The Sunday morning performances were scheduled for our JDC groups about noon, but because of the ice and backed up traffic, our dancers couldn’t start until their later arrival time, which was between one and two o’clock, but the competition officials were very understanding and kept things very relaxed, so our performers would still have fun and could do their best.
The first JDC performance on Sunday was the lyrical performance in the Small Group, Teen Division to “Storm” by Jessica Holeman, Briyana Isaac, Jessica McDonough, Niki Rodgers and Tori Spears. The group was awarded a Gold First. Ms Lois is the choreographer and instructor for this group.

Also competing in the Small Group, Teen Division, were the older dancers to “Shake Your Pom Pom” a lively, fast-paced tap dance, choreographed and instructed by Ms. Emily. The performers, who won a Gold First, were Alexandria Adams, Briyana Isaac, Jessica Holeman, Hannah Moler, Kassie Shepard, Kaitlin Soderlund, Tori Spears, and Stephanie York. Carol Walters is also a member of this group and was too ill to attend, and Bailey Jo Rhodes had a school function that she needed to attend. The performance also won Fifth in the Top Ten Award Winners.

Kassie, Alexandria, Tori, Jessica, Kaitlin, Stephanie, Hannah and Briyana - you can probably still see the perspiration beads on their foreheads - after performing to "Shake Your Pom Pom" - and no that is not a pom pom on the top of Kaitlin's head.
The JDC Teen, Large Hiphop Group, competing to “Closer,” choreographed and instructed by Ms. Lois, won Gold First and also tied for Seventh Place in the Top Ten Award Winners. Performers in this number were Mackenzie Blanchard, Amanda Cross. Tori Hanley, Jessica Holeman, Maitland Hurley, Taylor Rai Johnson, Bailea Jones, Kendra Lytch, Jennifer McDonough, Stephanie Singleton, Joi Smith, Kaitlin Soderlund, Tori Spears, Kayla Vasquez, Alana Whatley and Rachel Wyrick. Cassidy Eberle and Carol Walters are both members of this group but were too ill to attend.

Thanks Ladies - these are the dancers who came to the front of the building so I could take their picture for the website. I appreciate you all. Shown here are Maitland, Kayla, Rachel, Amanda, Kendra, Jessica, Joi, Stephanie and Jennifer. Thanks ladies - especially because we had not been able to take a group shot at the last competition.
I was not expecting to be so pleasantly surprised to be able to get any sort of a group shot and everybody was too rushed ahead of time for the group shot so I just took a few candid shots in the back of the stage. I probably was not able to get all to sit still long enough!

Ms. Lois - I'm really sorry that I didn't get you in one of these pictures - Ms. Lois was sooo busy trying to get needed new formations taken care of because of empty spots. And we were really sorry that the others couldn't be with us - we know they would much rather have been with us than home in their sickbed.
