Return Home Return to Meets and Accomplishments

The Jacksonville Gymnastics Compulsory Levels Three, Four, Five and Six attended the Annual Yankee Doodle Dandy Gymnastics Meet which is held each January at the Convention Center at Pine Bluff, AR. The Optionals Teams of Jax Gym did not attend the meet this weekend as it would have made three meets in three weekends. Most of the 51 compulsory gymnasts from Jacksonville Gymnastics Team attended the meet and competed well. There was a total of 447 gymnasts competing in this meet from nineteen Arkansas teams and one team from Louisiana. The meet, hosted by Flip Flop Gymnastics, began Friday night and ended Sunday afternoon and was the usual success that has come to be expected of Patty and Bud and the Flip Flop parents. The Convention Center at Pine Bluff is a wonderful location for a meet to be held, with great lighting for the parent photographers and comfortable seats. Also, a double set of all equipment and exercise floors are set up so gymnasts may compete and warm up at the same time.
This picture was taken during the awards for the morning session of Level Fours and a few Level Five gymnasts. No one sits on the back side of the meet as they would not be able to see the scoreboard which can be seen in the middle of the picture. Gymnasts on the floor are waiting to hear their age group be called in hopes of winning a first place for the event and especially for the sometimes elusive First-Place Individual All-Around.
This photo was taken from the opposite end of the entrance to the convention center and shows the gymnasts who are receiving awards and also shows the gymnasts at the far end who are warming up on the second floor. When the competition is being held, gymnasts will be competing on one end of the gym setup, as the other side is warming up and vice versa.
This is looking across at some of the parents who have attended this session of the competition.
This is looking down at the gymnasts who are warming up for the Level Six - Ten session while the awards are being presented at the other end of the competition floor. These photos were taken early Saturday afternoon.
Eighty-one Level Four gymnasts from seven teams, including the ten Jacksonville Gymnastics team members, began Friday night competition at 5:00. The ten home team competing gymnasts, who range in age from six to twelve years, were Madison Dixon, Melanie Fortson, Catherine Hancock, Reagan Hodson, Macey Jasmin, Breanna Orr, Gracie Petefish, Graycyn Powers, Taylor Stauffer and Alex Wargo. The team won the Third-Place Team Trophy and the following top individual awards for their age group:

Generally, I do not put scores on the website, but when a gymnast gets such a high score and still does not place first, I think it's important for you to know how tough it was and how well our gymnasts did.
These happy Level Four gymnasts are quite proud of their Third-Place Team Trophy. They had to work quite hard to win it. From left to right, front row, are Madison, Melanie, Macey, Reagan and Gracie. Back row, also left to right, are Graycyn, Taylor, Alex and Breanna. Taylor earned a 36.65 and won Second-Place All-Around and Madison earned a 36.6 and won Third-Place All-Around. This might give you some idea of how tough the session was!!!
On Saturday in the early morning session, 72 Level Four gymnasts from nine teams, along with fourteen Level Five gymnasts from six teams competed.
