HUFF ‘N PUFF AND JACKSONVILLE GYMNASTICS

SKILLS REVIEW

PROVES TO BE A GREAT SUCCESS

The Gymnastics Recreational Program at Huff ‘n Puff and the Jacksonville Gymnastics Competitive program (of Huff ‘n Puff) combined Thursday evening, May 24th at the gym to provide a wonderfully entertaining and educational evening for parents, grandparents, coaches and friends.  The Skills Review also provided a great feeling of achievement for the nearly 200 students who participated in the evening’s program.

The Skills Review was held in two sessions, but the participation was so great this year that  even more sessions will be held next year.  The first part of the review featured the preschool program and their instructors.  The young students, ages two to five, showed their achievements on many of the stations set up for them.  As you can see by the stretching photos, they were too cute for words.  I did not get photos of each child and I apologize for that.

After the awards for the preschoolers, members of the Jacksonville Gymnastics Competitive Team, Levels Three and Four, demonstrated their competitive skills as they performed their choreographed recital program number to  “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.” Then members of Levels Five, Six, Seven and Eight performed their recital program number, demonstrating their more difficult skills to “Sweet Escape.”  Levels Three through Eight gymnasts also demonstrated some of their skills on bars, beam, vault and floor routines.  By demonstrating these skills, both parents and students could see to what levels they could expect to achieve.

The second half of the program featured the Pre-Level One, Level One, Level Two students, and boys.  Also featured in the skills review for the first year were junior and senior power-tumbling students taught by Mr. Bobby. They performed their skills to music, with parts of it choreographed to the music by Mr. Bobby.  After the performance by the power tumblers, the other levels were broken into groups and demonstrated their skills on floor and equipment.  At the end of the skills meet, awards were handed out.  Also promotions from Level Two to Competitive Team Level Three were announced - Names listed later.  Rec pictures later.  Team pictures later.  Coaches listed later.
