SWINGS THROUGH INVITATIONAL AT DURHAM'S

IN SPRINGDALE

 

 

The Jacksonville Gymnastics USAG Junior Olympic Team competed this weekend at Durham’s Gym in Springdale, AR.  This is the last big meet of their competitive season until they go to their state meets that will be held separate weekends and different locations for the different levels.

 

The Level Five Team competed Friday night at 5:00.  Those gymnasts competing were Caitlyn Dillon, Kelsy Founds, Marisa Grissom, Tiffany Maxwell, Jessica McDonough, Lauren McKibben, Stephanie Scroggins, Stephanie Singleton, Samantha Sobba, Kaitlin Soderlund, Carol Walters and Cami Wright.  Samantha Sobba won Second-Place Individual All-Around for nine-year-old gymnasts.

 

Fifty-four Level Six gymnasts, representing ten Arkansas teams competed Saturday morning at 8:00 and the Jacksonville Team gymnasts won the First-Place Team Award.  The Jacksonville gymnasts were Morgan Bussard, Cassidy Eberle, Haley Edgin, Allyson Ferren, Samantha Gray, Tori Hanley, April Pitts, Mackenzie Powers and Tori Spears.  Haley Edgin tied for Second Place Individual All-Around Award for eight-year-old gymnasts, and Tori Hanley won First-Place Individual All-Around for age eleven gymnasts.

 

Thirty-eight Level Seven gymnasts representing nine teams and 20 Level Eight gymnasts representing six teams competed Saturday at 12:00 noon. Competing for the Jacksonville Level Seven Team that won the Third-Place Team Trophy were eight of the twelve-member team.  They were:  Courtney Ellis, Kierra Daniel, Madison Ellis, Krista Carlisle, Sissy Ghormley, Taja’ Mitchem, Rene’e LaFort, and Brooke Nevins’.  Courtney Ellis won Third-Place All-Around for age 10 and Rene’e LaFort won Third-Place All-Around for age fourteen. 

 

Competing for Jacksonville Level Eight Team were four of the six team members.  They were Kayla Edgin, Taylor Rai’ Johnson, Kelsey Lerner and Sarah McAlister.    Several of the Level Seven and Eight team members were unable to attend this competition because of conflicting cheerleading tryouts.  Also, Jessica Wilde, Jacksonville Level Eight gymnast, was competing in the State Championship Swim and Dive Meet at Fayetteville.  Kelsey Lerner, won First-Place Individual All-Around for age fourteen.  Taylor Rai’ Johnson won Third-Place All-Around for age twelve and Sarah McAlister won Third-Place All Around for age fourteen.

 

Three different sessions were held for Level Four gymnasts.  Seventy-four gymnasts representing five teams from Arkansas and Missouri competed in the Sunday morning session at 8:00.  Twenty-three of the Jacksonville Gymnastics team members competed in this session and the Team won the Third-Place Team Trophy.  The competing gymnasts were Sabrina Barger, Ashton Bussard, Tonie Butler, Taylor Butler, Kennedy Driskill, Rachel Flippen, Abigail Grappe, Ashley Harmon, Hayley Henley, Amanda Hicks, Bailea Jones, Kendra Lytch, Kaylen Perkins, Natalie Ruiz-Castillo, Madi Spears, Allison Storeygard, Katherine Taylor, Hannah Taylor, Alex Taylor, Katie Trujillo, Lynzie VanBrocklin, Lexie Webb and Madison Winstead.  Seven–year-old Madi Spears won Second-Place Individual All-Around for six and seven year-old gymnasts. 

 

Next and final meet of the 2005-2006 competitive season will be the State Meet.  The State Meet for Level Six, Seven and Eight will be held March 11th in Russellville.  The State Meet for Level Four and Five will be held March 18-19 in Pine Bluff.

 

 

Level Four Gymnasts Celebrate Their Third-Place Team Award at Durham’s Gymnastics Mardi Gras Competitive Meet at Springdale, Arkansas.  Twenty-three Jacksonville Level Four gymnasts, ages six through twelve competed against  51 other gymnasts from Arkansas and Missouri.

Jacksonville Gymnastics Optional Gymnasts won Third-Place Team Trophy for Level Seven teams at Springdale Meet.  Jacksonville Level Seven gymnasts from left to right, are Brooke Nevins, Kierra Daniel, Rene’e LaFort, Courtney Ellis, Taja’ Mitchem, Madison Ellis, Sissy Ghormley and Krista Carlisle.  Gymnasts from all over central Arkansas travel to Jacksonville four times a week to be part of the Jacksonville Gymnastics Team.  These Level Seven gymnasts are from Searcy, Sherwood, North Little Rock, Little Rock, Bryant and Jacksonville.
