AND WINS FIRST-PLACE TEAM BANNER
Twelve gymnasts from the fifteen-member Jacksonville Gymnastics USAG Junior Olympic Level Three Competitive Team competed Saturday morning at Champion’s Gym in Jonesboro. Levels Three through Eight from eight Arkansas teams attended the meet and this was the first time for the Level Three team to travel without the rest of the team. Usually, Level Three meets only recognize the individual All-Around scores and team awards are not designated; however, team placement banners were awarded to the Level Three gymnasts at this meet.
The Jacksonville Level Three Team, competing against gymnasts from two other gyms, won the First-Place Team Banner. Jacksonville also won eight First, Second and Third-place Individual All-Around awards and 31 First, Second and Third-place Event awards.
The following gymnasts won individual all-around awards:
Tonie Butler Age Five First Place
Allison Shaw Age Seven First Place
Samantha Wade Age Seven Second Place
Maggie Lee Age Eight-Nine Third Place
Kennedy Driskill Age Ten First Place
Lauren Anderson Age Ten Second Place
Hayley Paddock Age Ten Third Place
Christina Hensley Age Eleven & Up Second Place
This is the first year for Jacksonville Gymnastics Team to compete Level Three. These gymnasts were moved to Level Three last May to begin summer training in June as a Level Three. Also, most of the gymnasts had been taking gymnastics for only nine months to a year, and several less than six months, before being moved to Level Three.
