PRESCHOOL GYM - 2008

These are just a few of the classes in the preschool gymnastics area.  I only took one a day while I was visiting at the gym.  Our classes this summer for preschool gymnastics were held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

July 23, 2008 - Ms. Dena's Class (think a couple were missing, along with Ms. Dena who was out of town.)

Summer Classes - July 22, 2008 - Ms. Kristi's Class

The gymnasts were quietly sitting awaiting instructions from Ms. Kristi.

Ms. Kristi and daughter Taylor Rai who assists with class, pose here with the young gymnasts.

Ms. Kristi has been teaching preschool gymnastics for several years and Taylor Rai has many years experience - She's a Level Eight working-toward-Level-Nine gymnast on our Jacksonville Gymnastics Team.  These young gymnasts experience the many, many benefits of gymnastics, although I'm sure that they just enjoy gymnastics for the fun of it. At this point, they could care less about their coordination, their strengthening, their balance and the rest of the many benefits of the sport.

Summer Classes - July 21, 2008 - Ms. Dena's Class

Ms. Dena had just told me thirty minutes earlier how much she loves working with the preschooler gymnasts.  Ms. Dena is assisted in her classes by her daughter Katy.  These kids are so cute - the parents are watching them through the viewing window.

I apologize to the parents of the young children that I took pictures of several months ago.  I will keep searching for the cd, but I feel sure that it is one that failed after I had deleted the actual photos from my camera.  I promise to keep searching.

January 29, 2008

Vivian and Jacob get ready to make the three-foot drop into the pit.

Ms. Christy shows the kids how to swing and  drop from the  bar into the foam pit.

Vivian has no problem with this drop at all - Working with these children at this young age teaches them safety as well as helping them attain  confidence as well as the strength that you can readily see they have gained.  When I walked in the gym, Vivian was climbing the rope and Jacob had just finished climbing - they climbed up a little over Ms. Christy's head - by the time they reach team age, they can climb to the top of our tall building on those ropes.

Jacob is working on his strengthening skills also.  Gymnastics a wonderful sport for boys, as well as girls because of the coordination and strengthening that it promotes - many of the boys continue in gymnastics and many parents have reported  on how well it prepares their child for other sports where coordination and strengthening are so important (which is probably all other sports.) Gymnastics also has a way of helping the gymnasts improve their concentration and thus grades improve.  We know this is true of older competing gymnasts, so we are assuming that it would be true to a lesser extent with the younger children.

Vivian and Jacob landed into the pit from the pit bar, but  it's                              always such a temptation to just rest in the pit!

I have decided that I'm going to give up website and become an agent for cute kids for some modeling or advertising job.  There is something about gymnastics or perhaps just the exercise that brings out the best in kids, from young to older - just look at the pictures of the different aged gymnasts on different places on the website.  Check out the younger sisters of both Vivian  and Jacob on the Mommy and Me site.

October, 2007

This is Ty - Ms. Erin and Asher's son - two years old and already an athlete -

like his parents.

Skinning the Cat - the gymnast - not Ms. Dena!!!

I don't know if all these young preschoolers are just healthier or if it's because they are exercising through gymnastics. but the kids these days are so good looking and cute - I think it's probably because they are doing gymnastics or dance!!!!!
