JACKSONVILLE DANCERS
The “Up on the Housetop” dancers are from the Tap ‘n Tumbling Classes which are held for three-four-and-five-year-old preschool students, boys and girls. The classes are one hour long; 30 minutes are devoted to tap and the last 30 minutes are spent teaching preschool gymnastics to these youngsters. Forty-five young dancers participated with Huff ‘n Puff in the Jacksonville Parade and the group won the Second Place Trophy for the Eight-and-Under Performing Group.

“Up on the Housetop” Dancers practice before the judges arrive.

More practice – just awaiting the arrival of the judges!!! Such patience these little ones showed – they were real troupers – and especially to be so young. We’re really proud of all of you.

“Sleigh Ride” Dancers – tapping toes. Parents and grandparents cannot help but be proud as these dancers perform actual tap steps – and some of them quite complicated for the dancers’ ages.

“Sleigh Ride” Dancers Perform for the Judges
These dancers are from the five and six-year-old dance classes. The 21 dancers were almost perfect as they performed to “Sleigh Ride.”

The 36 “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” Dancers really stood out in their brand new red and white polka-dot costumes. The dancers are from the seven-to-nine-year-old dance and hiphop-cheer classes. They got it all together as they performed individually and in groups to delight the audience with their clever dance.

The dance and costumes were new this year and this was probably the first time in the history of the parade that nine dancers performed standing back handsprings simultaneously. The back handsprings were performed by team members who are also dancers.
The 29 ten-to-twelve-year-old dancers performed a jazz dance to “Gimmie, Gimmie, Gimmie” – a contemporary Christmas song. The dance was changed from last year’s complicated tap to a jivy jazz so all the dancers could perform it – and they did such a good job! The dancers were from classes that included beginning, ongoing and company dance students.
It’s too bad they can’t give awards to each age bracket because all of our dancers deserved special awards.
These twenty-four dancers performed with Chris Williams, our company hiphop instructor and cheerleading squad coach, to “Mr. Grinch.” The dancers are from our 13-and-above company classes that include junior and senior tap classes, senior jazz and senior hiphop classes.
The Mr. Grinch dance, choreographed last year by Ms. Laurel won First Place in the Nine-and-Above Performing Category in the Jacksonville Parade. The dancers also won First Place last year in both the Jacksonville and Sherwood parades.
