JACKSONVILLE DANCE COMPANY
It is difficult to write anything new about the Jacksonville Dance Company because the Company just continues to get better every year and has really thrived this year under the direction and instruction of Ms. Sara Wilson.
The Company competed in six large competitions this season and performed thirteen group numbers, two trios, two duets and four solos. The performers received top prizes in several of these competitions, including platinum awards and top in their categories. The Company will compete in the Talent on Parade National Competition in early July in St Louis, Missouri.
The dancers range in age from six to teens and perform jazz, tap, lyrical, musical theater and hip hop. Ages are averaged for each group and a dancer may perform in different age groups for different genre of dance.
The Jacksonville Dance Company performed the following dances in the 2011-2012 competition season:
Tap: “Mind Control; The Hardest; Bust a Move; Party Rockin; SuperSonic; Betty Boop; Jumpin’ Jack; Rhythm Nation”
Jazz: “Funky Monkey; Pop, Drop & Roll; Kick It; Discarded Men; E. T.”
Lyrical: “Sugarcane; Arms of an Angel”
Musical Theater: “Carn-Evil”
Hip Hop: “School House Rock; Lil RockStarZ; Out of this World; We Run This; Dirty South Swagger

LETTER OF APPRECIATION
We are thankful for the opportunity to perform tonight and it is because of the hard work of our staff and your children, and your continued support of our staff, that we are able to be here and to have our yearly recital. I wish to thank all of you for that support.
Our Goal from our very first year has been “We want your child to enjoy the pleasure of learning the art of dance or the skills of gymnastics, while also experiencing the joy of achievement.”
It is our sincere hope that, when grown, your children will remember the fun and the achievements gained from their years at Huff ‘n Puff. I feel that our staff is a remarkable group and we hope that you feel they are playing a positive part in your child’s life. We hope also that you have as much pride in us as we have in your children and their accomplishments.
Huff ‘n Puff has continued to grow this past year with programs in two locations – Jacksonville and North Little Rock. The recreational programs and competition teams have progressed immeasurably. Huff ‘n Puff is the home not only to our successful Jacksonville Dance Company, that will be attending the large Talent on Parade National Competition this year in St. Louis, but is also home to one of the largest gymnastics teams in the state--our Jacksonville Gymnastics Competitive Team, Levels Two through Ten; and our newly formed Jacksonville All-star Xtreme Cheer Squad, that won a national championship at the Jamfest Competition in Hot Springs in its first year of competing. At our Jax Gym NLR, also in its first year, the Trampoline and Tumbling Team is sending two gymnasts to the National Competition in California this summer. We are so proud of all of our recreational and competitive programs and the children involved in each.
In addition to honoring our staff, I would sincerely like to honor my daughter Laurel Adams. The responsibilities required for managing this business are endless and not accomplished without a good deal of sacrifice. My pride lies not only in Laurel’s willingness to take on a challenge, but in her ability to see things as they are, to relate to people and to care for the students. Her dedication to the students, and her courage to set higher goals, and to help the students attain those goals, have made Huff ‘n Puff an even better training facility for dance, gymnastics and cheerleading.
Your continued support of Laurel, Huff ‘n Puff, our programs, and our staff is sincerely appreciated. Without your support, we would be nothing. My gratitude to all, over the years, is overwhelming.
