LOUISIANA CUP INVITATIONAL

FEBRUARY 10 - 12

Jax Gymnastics Competitive Team Gymnasts, Levels Four through Ten, spent this past weekend in Shreveport, Louisiana, along with thousands of others who were there enjoying Shreveport Madi Gras events.  Nearly 275 gymnasts from twelve Louisiana, Texas and Arkansas teams competed in the two-day Louisiana Cup Invitational Meet that was held Saturday and Sunday at the LSU Shreveport college gymnasium.  The meet was hosted by AcroSports of Shreveport.  Jax Gym has attended several meets in Shreveport over the past eight years or so. 

The Louisiana Cup Invitational began for the Jax Gymnastics Level Four Team Saturday morning at 11:15 as they competed with 64 gymnasts from eight Louisiana and Arkansas teams.  Competing for Jax Gym were Ariana Barrett, Kylie Belew, Kaitlin Beratto, Molly Boroughs, Chandler Dean, Kayla Goldsmith, Katie Groff, Hannah Heflin, Samantha Stephens, Madison Weeks and Carson White.  The team proudly won the Second-Place Team Banner.

The Optional Gymnasts - Levels Seven, Eight, Nine and Ten competed in the late afternoon session. 

Competing Level Seven for Jax Gym were Sabrina Barger, Madison Cresswell, Emma Faulkner, Joshuline Gaynor, Briyana Isaac, Skylar Martin, Madi Spears, Allison Tubbs and Caytee Wright.  The Level Seven Team won the First-Place Team Banner.

I took this picture of Madison Cresswell Sunday morning to show how tall the vault table was the night before when she scored a 9.6 on the event (as a Level Seven!!!!!)  Way to go, Madison!

Competing at Level Eight Saturday night were Hollyann Beckner, Taylor Butler, Tonie Butler, Jessica McDonough, Allison Ramsey, Jordan Rogers and Stephanie Singleton.  The team won the Second-Place Team Trophy.

The following are the top honors won by the Jax Gym Level Eight gymnasts:

Haley competed Bars and Beam and won third place on beam.  Taylor Rai placed Third on Vault and Second on Bars.

Team gymnasts are not usually wild about having an early 8:00 session but the Jax Gym Level Five Team gymnasts had a great time Sunday morning as they won the First-Place Team Banner.  Competing for the Jax Team with 56 Level Five gymnasts were Lyndi Brown, Alexis Clouser, Jordan Cooper, Makenzie Cresswell, Brenna Frandson, Scarlett Frederic, Rani Heinmiller, M'Lynn Johnson, Autumn Klein, Clara Scott, Sydney Spillane, Mayla Spoon, Elizabeth Thornhill, Alexis Truesdail and Alex Wargo.

Winning top honors were:

Makenzie Cresswell won First-Place Individual All-Around honors for her age group, Level Five.

Scarlett Frederick won Level Five First-Place Individual All-Around for her age group.

Brenna Frandson won First-Place Individual All-Around Honors for her age bracket, Level Five.

Competing in the noontime session on Sunday were seven of the 12-member Jax Gym Level Six Team - Miranda Chambers, Sara Heil, Cami Kita, Jenna Mecca, Danielle Sheesley, Kaitlyn Sheesley and Ainsley Robinson.
