The JAX Gymnastics Tumbling and Trampoline Team, coached by Erin Powell, competed recently in their first meet at the Stay Sharp Invitation in Lancaster, TX. There were about 65 kids from five teams who competed in the meet.
This was actually an end-of-the season meet but it was a good meet for the JAX Gymnasts to learn something about the world of Tumbling and Trampoline meets. Athletes from JAX Gym who competed were:
Emma Faulkner, Level 7, 2nd Tumbling
Mia Faulkner, Level 5, 2nd Tumbling
Reagan Hodson, Level 5, 3rd Tumbling
Tevin Patillo, Level 7 Trampoline, 2nd; Level 6 Tumbling 3rd
Olivia Phillips, Level 5 Tumbling, 1st
Rhett Shuman, Level 3 Trampoline, 2nd
Maddie Young, Level 4 Trampoline, 2nd
Lyndi Brown, Level 5 Tumbling, 5th
On Sunday, June 5th, Rich Trevino and Rich Trevino, Jr. hosted a clinic for the JAX Team, which was a huge success. Each of the gymnasts learned to do something new, and Tevin and Emma did their first double backs and double fronts by themselves.
The Trampoline and Tumbling season (TNT) starts usually in January to early spring, and the nationals are always the fourth of July weekend. The JAX TNT Team will work on skills all summer and the fall in preparation for competing in their first season. The JAX GYM gymnasts will be representing Arkansas in many meets next year, as they are the only TNT team in the state.
Some of the JAX Gym TNT team members celebrate their honors after competing in their recent first meet. Shown here (in no particular order) are Rhett, Lyndi, Tevin, Reagan, Olivia and Maddie.
