JACKSONVILLE GYMNASTICS HOSTS ITS

SECOND EMERALD CLASSIC MEET

- A BIG HIT

PAGE TWO

Looking across at the parents and grandparents during the First Session on Sunday - the fifth of the meet.  These were Level Two and Level Three parents and grandparents and other family members.

Three more sessions were held on Sunday.  The first session was for 37 Level Two gymnasts from six teams--Acrosports, Flip Over, Hot Springs, Leah's, RiverCity Cabot, and Russellvile Dance and Gymnastics.

This little one was the youngest to compete at the meet - she was a four-year-old Level Two and she won First Place in Vault, Bars, Beam and Floor and First-Place All-Around.  Congratulations, Annaclaire.

I was able to catch a photo of these two little cuties from Flip Flop in the Warmup Area.

There were also 57 Level Three gymnasts who also competed in this session from the seven teams of Acrosports, Flip Flop, Hot Springs, Mega, Russellville Dance and Gymnastics, Stars and Stripes and Tumble Town II.

Coach Chas stands nearby as this little one waits for her signal to compete on the vault.

Patiently awaiting while awards are being called out!!!!  You might think that it would be pretty hard if you were just a young Level Two gymnast, but you would have thought these gymnasts had been competing for years and knew ALL about it!

The trophy for high-event score was awarded to a young gymnast from Russellville.

Session Six, that started with open stretch at 11:30, was another large session with 103 more Level Four gymnasts from fourteen teams competing.  The teams were Acrosports, Champions, Dorsey's, Elite II, Flip Flop, Gym Stars, Hot Springs, Leah's, Mega, NLR superstars, RiverCity Cabot, Russellville Dance and Gymnastics, Stars and Stripes and Tumble Town II.

Some of the Level Four gymnasts are shown here stretching and warming up.  This looks across the gym behind the awards stand.

There was a three-way tie with a score of 37.5 and the winner was determined by high event score.  The tie was between two gymnasts from Dorsey's and a gymnast from Elite II, Tupelo and the trophy was awarded to a Dorsey's gymnast, who had the highest event score.

The last session of the meet began at 4:30, when 69 Level Three gymnasts from nine teams competed.  Most of these teams were from nearby areas so parents and gymnasts didn't have so far to travel to get back home.  These teams were from Dorsey's, Flip Over, Gym Stars, Leah's, Mega, NLR Superstars, RiverCity Cabot, Sonshine and Jacksonville.  In Arkansas, team awards are not given for Level Two and Level Three teams, but all the gymnasts did great.  Winner of the High-Point Trophy was Scarlett Frederic of Jacksonville, who won with a 36.9.

The highlight of the meet (at least for me) was when the little Sonshine Level Three was running her vault (for competition) and glanced over at her parents, grinned and gave a big wave - and kept right on running and vaulted!

The Jacksonville Gymnastics Level Three team members who competed were Lexi Brown, Chandler Dean, Sydney Fortson, Scarlett Frederic, Shelby Haver, Julia Hughes, Iona Kegler, Mayla Spoon, Elizabeth Thornhill, Alexis Truesdail, and Carson White.  Also, many top honors were won by the team, as shown here.
