RECREATIONAL GYMNASTICS PROGRAMS
Pre-Level 1, Level 1 and Level 2* (Now being called Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced)
Recreational gymnastics classes are for girls ages five and older. These classes are beginner and advanced beginner levels. Classes for Pre-level One and Level One are one hour. *Classes for Level Two are two hours. Each class has one instructor for every eight to ten students. Students receive instruction on the four Olympic events, with the instructor also utilizing the trampoline, tumble track, and large foam pit, as well as the strength and conditioning station. Students are grouped with the class according to ability levels and are encouraged to achieve at their own pace of learning.
Tumbling – Boys and Girls (Ages five and up)
Beginner Tumbling - These tumbling classes are designed for boys and girls who are interested in strictly working on their floor skills. Your child will work skills in a variety of ways with the aid of incline and panel mats and in-ground trampoline, tumble track and extra large foam pit. Qualified coaches and low class ratios will aid in your athlete’s progression. Beginner tumbling classes will work on bridges, handstands, cartwheels, round-offs, rolls and introduction to back handsprings.
Intermediate Tumbling - To participate in intermediate tumbling classes, students must have completed Beginner’s Tumbling or have a coach’s recommendation as to their progress on or achievement of the above skills. Intermediate classes will work on round-offs, front limbers, back walkovers, front handsprings, back handsprings, and round-off back handsprings. They will also continue to perfect the basics.
Advanced Tumbling - To participate in these classes, students must have the ability to perform round-off back handsprings. Tumblers will have the opportunity to take their tumbling to the next level with knowledgeable coaches. Tumblers will work on round-off back handsprings series, back tucks and advanced running-tumbling combinations.
Cheernastics (Ages five to nine;ten and above)
Basic cheerleading is for students who wish to be exposed to cheerleading and who at this time are not entering the competitive cheer world. In this once-a-week class, the students will learn jumps, motions, stunts, and tumbling. Students who are wishing to become school cheerleaders should plan to attend classes for at least one year, if not more, in order to become proficient at the skills required at the junior high and high school levels.
