Kayla Gregory, Sara Heil, Sydney Hughes, Briyana Isaac, Victoria
Maness, Kayla McGee, Lainey Necessary, Jadyn Perkins, Peyton
Roushia, Sarah Seibel, Mattie Taylor and Hali Wilder.
The following gymnasts not only met the Level Three requirements but they have been selected to practice with the Level Four gymnasts:
Lauren Foster, Katy Gorden, Abby Houghtaling, Cydney Howard, Sierra Rohauer and Erin Skelton.
We are especially proud of all of these gymnasts. The ages of these gymnasts range from five years to nine and ten years old. Mr. Bobby Churches has instructed some of these gymnasts for several years. He and Ms. Christy Ellis have instructed the newer students for the past nine months. All gymnasts progress at different rates; some of these gymnasts began taking gymnastics with us since the age of three and others have only been taking gymnastics since last September. Each gymnast is different in her ability; and maturity and age play a part in achieving one’s skills. It is especially heartwarming to see the youngest gymnasts whom you met on their very first day, who at three years old were so shy and who, some three years later, are ready compete. Nobody ever said that gymnastics is easy but that is part of the fascination with it. The gymnasts can feel such a sense of accomplishment and they learn to set and reach goals at a very young age – and they learn how important it is to stick with something if they want to attain those goals. We are so proud of all of our gymnasts.
During the non-competitive months, all team gymnasts work on skills. During the summer, more hours per week are spent working on not only current skills but in learning and perfecting the new skills of the next level. All team gymnasts will be evaluated mid-July, and those ready at that time will remain at their current level or move to the level at which they will compete during the following season. Few gymnasts are moved mid-season, but last year, after our own Sweetheart Invitational, two of our Level Three gymnasts were moved to Level Four to compete for the rest of the season. Gymnasts cannot compete at Level Four until they are six years of age and Tonie Butler turned six in time to compete at Level Four for several meets. Kennedy Driskill was also moved up to Level Four at mid-season and competed several meets at Level Four. The season before, Madi Spears was moved up and competed two meets at Level Four and then competed Level Four this year and is currently working with several other gymnasts on Level Five skills at the age of seven years. All of the gymnasts have made tremendous strides in their skills just since competition season ended.
Don’t forget – the public is invited to attend the Skills Review on May 25th. Bring lawn chairs for grandparents.
Pictures will follow after Skills Review.
Congratulations Girls - you've all worked hard and we are very proud of you!!!!!
